Benefits of the Certificate in Business Experience Coop Program | Study and Work Canada

The Business Experience program is designed to offer students a chance to focus on various business topics that they have interest in or that are relevant to their field of study. Students can choose three courses from a wide variety of business options such as communication, management, HR, financial management and international business. Students will earn a Certificate in Business Experience.

Co-op Work Placement

Co-op work placements are unpaid. Greystone Co-op coordinators will help prepare you for securing an unpaid placement, and will offer guaranteed interviews with potential employers. Service/Placement Fee includes:

  • Permit sponsorship
  • Documentation support
  • Interview and job preparation
  • Résumé building
  • Explanation of government reporting procedure and
  • Placement tips

Volunteer work placement hours cannot exceed the study hours and the programs are designed to allow students to work an average of 21 hours per week. Volunteer positions vary depending on an employer’s needs, and the student’s English and professional skills. For some placements, the precise position may be determined once they arrive at placement locations.

Am I eligible for the Business Experience Program in Canada?

Students who are interested in attending Greystone College must have completed (graduated from) their final year of general schooling.

International students must demonstrate advanced level of English with Greystone’s online written test and interview. The online written test is exempt if iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, or ILSC A1 is presented. The online written test is exempt if ILSC’s Business English Management Certificate or International Business English Certificate is completed.

New Study Permit Regulations as of June 1, 2014…

Study permits will automatically authorize the holder to work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during the academic session and full-time during scheduled breaks without the need to apply for a separate work permit. The study permit holder must be pursuing academic, vocational or professional training of six months or more that leads to a degree, diploma or certificate at a designated institution. Learn more…

International students taking a coop program in Canada must have a valid study & work permit. International business courses in Canada including internship require that you apply for a study permit before your arrival in Canada. Learn more

Post Graduate Work Permit Canada

Students who complete a fulltime program lasting for longer than 8 months may be eligible to apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit. Post Graduate Work Permits may not exceed the length of study time. Please see the Government of Canada Website for more information.

Study and Work in Canada Program Schedule

Students will benefit from qualified instructors with years of experience in the industry. Classes are Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm and one hour is intended for lunch break.

Business Experience Co-op Program Fees and Starting Dates

The length of the Business Experience Co-op Program is 26 weeks which includes 12 weeks of academic studies + 12 weeks of unpaid Co-op placement + 2 weeks of tutorial study.
